Dekh to dil ki jaan..
Dekh to dil ki jaan se uthtaa hai
Yeh dhuaan saa kahaan se uthtaa hai
[jaan = where]
Gor kis dil-jale ki hai yeh falak
sh'olaa ik subah yaan se uthtaa hai
[gor = grave/tomb] [sh'olaa = flame/blaze]
Khaana-e-dil se zinhaar na jaa
Koi aise makaan se uthtaa hai
[zinhaar = never]
Naala sar khenchtaa hai jab meraa
Shor ek aasmaan se uthtaa hai
Ladtee hai uskee chashm-e-shokh jahaan
Ek aashob waan se uthtaa hai
Sudh le ghar kee bhi shola-e-awaaz
Dood kuchh aashiyaan se uthtaa hai
Baithane kaun de hai phir usko
Jo tere aastaan se uthtaa hai
[Astaan = home/abode]
Yoon uthe aah us galee se ham
Jaise ko'ee jahaan se uthataa hai
Ishq ik 'Meer' bhaaree patthar hai
bojh kab naatavaan se uthtaa hai
[naatavaan = weak]
~ Meer Taqi Meer
A very beautiful poem, showing the pain of love. Describes very beautifuly the trauma one feels while leaving his/her love, and how the love never dies. The translation is lifted from the home page of Anand Kumar Sinha (without his consent :P).
Sky isn't but grave of a soul deprived,
how else could it erupt fire(sun) out of its bosom!
I left her and her abode as if,
someone was saying goodbye to his very life
Meer(the poet) says that love is a heavy stone resting right over your heart,
how can a person gifted with so less of will power expect to overpower it?
